Recycling glass into sand for coastal restoration

Glass Recycling

Max Steitz and Franziska Trautmann started Glass Half Full as seniors at Tulane University. What started as a small operation in a backyard quickly grew into a 40,000 square foot operation, recycling over 100,000 pounds of glass every single month. GHF collects glass through a combination of free drop-offs, where anyone can bring their glass, and paid pickup services for residents and businesses. Once the glass reaches the facility, it is crushed through a pulverizing system into sand and gravel.
