Living Shoreline

ReCoast has teamed up with the Pointe au Chien Indian Tribe (PACIT) to repair a degraded marsh on tribe land in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. In early 2025, we will be constructing a berm made from bags of recycled glass sand and Christmas trees collected from the community along the eastern portion of the degraded marsh. The shallow open water will then be planted with plugs of saltmarsh cordgrass to help bring the marsh back to life while the berm protects them from wave action.

We look forward to working with our collaborators from the Coaltion to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL), Common Ground Relief (CGR), and the Lower 9th Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement & Development (CSED) in 2025!
